Be Smart on Facebook

Facebook is the largest social network, and hence it is practically understood why people want to capitalize on its one billion users. Many of Facebook’s users are in the upper side of the economy and could be potential buyers of products and services. Hence, companies create Facebook pages and try to reach potential audience by asking people like you to comment and like these pages. This will make sense to you if you know the concept of viral marketing. Viral marketing works just like how a virus spreads through your body—it is automatic and highly accelerated. In the same way, when you like a particular page on Facebook, you are actually recommending that page to all of your friends. They will be able to see this page on your profile page and timeline. Going further, if you have fifty friends in Facebook, the page you like reaches fifty people and by mere chance five out of those fifty may like the page. If each of these five people has fifty friends, the page will reach a wider a

Learn About Microprocessors on Your Android Tablets

Android tablets are highly popular today, outpaced only by Apple iPad. The powerhouse of a smartphone or a tablet is its processor, the core that actually performs the work you are doing. You might have always wondered what the processor on a tablet is all about, and how different it is from the processor used on a regular PC. You might have heard a lot of names, ARM, Cortex, Exynos, Tegra, Snapdragon, etc. In this article, you will find the answers to your questions. Microprocessors are mainly of two types—those which work on a PC and those which work on handheld devices. This is not a strict difference; the ones that work on PCs could also work on tablets with necessary tweaks and changes. However, it all depends on the architecture used. The operating systems you know, such as Android , Apple iOS, Windows, BlackBerry, all depend on the architecture of the processor used on the system. The two main architectures out there are ARM and Intel X86. X86, which we will not deal with

Jailbreaking Apple iPhone: Benefits & Disadvantages

You may have come across great apps that you would love to install on your iPhone but you cannot since Apple hasn’t approved it. You have to jailbreak your iPhone before you can install such an app. Apple has stringent guidelines in place for including an app in its store. Getting Apple’s approval is a difficult process for app developers. Let’s look at why people jailbreak iPhones, iPads, and other Apple products. In 2010 Apple went to court against jailbreaking iPhones. They argued that it was a direct violation of the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA). However, the court ruled against it and made jailbreaking legal. Unlocking vs. Jailbreaking You have probably come across the term unlocking. It is the process of removing the control over the phone by telephone operator. If you unlock the iPhone, you will be able to have it work with any carrier out there. It is different from jailbreaking. When you jailbreak an iPhone, it is not unlocked, but in order to unlock a phone, y

Avoid Purchasing a BlackBerry Smartphone

RIM, the maker of famed BlackBerry smartphones, is at the worst times of its trade. Share price of this Canadian company is falling rapidly. RIM’s shareholders have lost in billions when the market capitalization of the company came down from its peak of 83 billion dollars to 6.05 billion today. We are not only looking at the business side of the BlackBerry maker, but at the smartphones as well. BlackBerry smartphones have obvious disadvantages and flaws and coupled with the company’s doomed outlook, it is apt not to go with a BlackBerry smartphone. Expectation of a comeback of RIM with the release of BlackBerry 10 operating system in January next year is bleak at best. Disadvantages Obviously RIM did not target regular customers. Its main target was business users. Business users purchased BlackBerry smartphones for its industry-standard security, looks, and the trademarked QWERTY keyboard. All of these aspects (except for the security, of course), have in fact caused the doom o

The Actual Price of Microsoft Surface Tablet

Surface is Microsoft’s tablet computer running Windows 8. Two versions of the tablet are there: Surface tablet running Windows RT version, and Surface Pro (due to be out in January) running Windows 8 Pro ( difference between Windows RT and Windows 8 ). Did you know recently Microsoft reduced the number of orders for Surface from 4 to 2 million units (that is the contract number given to manufacturers in Asia)? This is because of terrible sales record of the tablet. While on one side the Windows operating system is selling like hot chocolate, Surface is not selling enough. The main reason behind the tablet’s lukewarm reception is probably the price. Surface basic unit comes at a price tag of 499 dollars and with the keyboard cover, price starts at 599 dollars (yes, hundred dollars for that keyboard cover). One thing that many don’t know is the actual price of parts that make up Surface tablet. The market research firm, iSuppli has given us a breakup of parts that go into Surface
