Why Apple iPhone Business May Die Soon?

You may have read the previous post in which I mentioned what Apple as a company must do . They should have done a number of things with the iPhone to refresh the product line. However, they have released an iterative, slightly modified iPhone 5 with iPhone 5S. It has virtually no improvement to speak about. You will have no idea how Apple is stealing your money with a substandard device, simply by looking at the new iPhone website or the presentation below. Already you may be seeing a lot of criticism directed at Apple for being stupid about this product. Steve Jobs wouldn’t have liked this. We have the technical specifications of iPhone 5S here, compared to iPhone 5. MIM & MIIM Diodes: How Do They Work?

What drains power in today’s electronics, what causes high temperatures and costs in today’s electronic equipment, could be behind extreme electronics of tomorrow. Our world is gearing towards a better tomorrow, where the supercomputers will be millions of times faster than today’s. Processing will be remarkably faster, and high level applications will run in nanoseconds. What will help us achieve this for our future? The technology known as MIM diodes and its successor, MIIM diodes (Metal-Insulator-Insulator-Metal diodes). Let’s check them out in detail. What Is MIM & MIIM? A diode is one of the most basic electronic components of any circuit. It is used to conduct electrons in one direction, like a valve. Advanced diodes are capable of modifying the current as well, such as sine wave to square wave, AC to DC, etc. Diode is such an important component in today’s electronics that without them nothing would be possible—no cellphones, tablets, PCs, display technologies, speake...

Google Play Editions: HTC One and Samsung Galaxy S4

You have probably already read our reviews of HTC One  and Galaxy S4 . These are the best and brightest of the currently available Android smartphones on the market. These smartphones have the best display, processors, graphics options, memory, storage, and of course high price. They come with Android 4.1.2 and 4.2.2 respectively, with HTC’s and Samsung’s special skin on top of Android. Google releases its Android OS and licenses it out to all these smartphone manufacturers, who decide to change the OS in the way they want and skin it up with their own designs. Although these designs are quite amazing, people are still pretty interested in Google’s own non-customized Android as found in the Nexus line. The latest Nexus device is LG’s Nexus 4  that has its own disadvantages, such as lack of LTE for one. Now, however, you are getting an option to get a Nexus-like operating system on one of these premier devices, HTC One and Galaxy S4. Here are the Google Play editions of the...

BlackBerry’s Next Flagship: A10

Rumors have been floating around about the next flagship BlackBerry 10 model, successor to Z10 , called A10. It is rumored that the new smartphone, along with certain other models may arrive by the end of the year. The first indication of the A10 model that is rumored to be codenamed ‘Aristo’, came in an interview with Thorsten Heins, the CEO of BlackBerry with CNET. Last year, a UK fan site of BlackBerry published this image of what seems to be BlackBerry A10 specifications, leaked. From the image, you can see the A10 device probably has a larger 4.6 inch display, the same quad-core Snapdragon processor as in Z10, 2 GB of RAM, etc. The specs are not quite different from Z10’s. Recent rumors however talk about a larger 5 inch BlackBerry A10 that involves the next version of BB10 OS, possibly version 10.2. Also, some say the RAM will be higher at 4 GB or so. We don’t yet have any clear indication of what the specs will be of this model. Also, in CrackBerry forums, earlier, th...

An In-Depth Preview of Apple’s New iOS 7

I have been studying the new iOS 7 for a few days now, and it seems apt to make a post about it right now. It has been more than ten days since Apple introduced the latest edition of the legendary mobile OS in the World Wide Developer Conference. For such a long time, iPhone and iOS have been in need for a formidable software update. iOS 7 is that update. For how long can Apple keep competing with a more streamlined open-source operating system like Android? While new mobile operating systems, such as Windows Phone and BlackBerry 10 , were making an entrance, iOS stayed the same. While innovative user interfaces were being ported on top of Android by device manufacturers like HTC and Samsung, iOS stayed stale and strong. Time has finally come for it to stay stale no longer. This is what motivated the operating system update. The person who was in charge of iOS and the desktop operating systems in Apple was Scott Fortsall, who left Apple after the Maps fiasco . Lately, the hardwar...

HTC Butterfly S Has Been Unveiled In China

In an event in Taiwan, HTC unveiled the next big device in its Butterfly series (you probably know it as Verizon’s Droid DNA). Droid DNA and its international edition, J Butterfly have been two of the most exciting and high-end smartphones developed by HTC. Here is Butterfly S, which comes with similar features and a whopping large screen of 5 inches, the largest that HTC has ever made. Engadget China has managed to get its hands on the device here . Here is the promo video of the device: Technical Specifications Here is the technical specifications of Butterfly S in comparison to two other devices, HTC One  and Samsung Galaxy S IV. Pen Input: Why the Lag In Drawing on Tablets Like Galaxy Note?

With the current technological advances, we have, such things as S-pens, C-pens, Wacom iPhone styli, etc., to help more natural pen input on touch devices. With these technologies, one might expect the way we be creative should change. One might expect to see a lot of mainstream drawings being done on such devices as the Galaxy Note. I mean, we are no longer in the era where styli were used just for navigation as in this PDA: So, why does that not happen? Why do the people still stick with the old style notepads for note-taking and the old-style canvas or plain paper and brush for painting? (You might say there are drawings made on Note, but the number is still low, and people still don’t find it quite enjoyable to draw on a tablet like Note; you can’t deny that.) The reason is that it is not a perfect technology quite yet. You can create a drawing on a Note but it takes time and effort, and it is not as natural as Samsung would want you to believe. In short, when you draw on a ...

Parts of the Upcoming Apple iPhone 5S: A Gallery

Popular tech blog BGR has recently shared with us the images of certain parts of the upcoming iPhone 5S, the next iterative (probably not!) update to iPhone. Since that day in 2007 when iPhone got a cult following, people like us in the tech world have been watching Cupertino from every corner. This is the result. Thirsty geeks always get leaked images through some means. While we don’t know the origin of these images, we have asked BGR about it. Let me show you these images. 1. Speaker Bracket 2. Wi-Fi Flex Cable Ribbon 3. iPhone 5S Vibration Motor 4. Sim trays In another recent development, iDownloadBlog shared what is supposed to be iPhone 5S assembly line images. Here they are. Over the last few days, there have been quite a number of rumors regarding this upcoming smartphone. How great iPhone 5S will be , only time will tell. Since iPhone 5’s Maps debacle, the then chief of design, Scott Forstall had to resign from Apple. He used to be the head of...
